Within the scope of the working visit to Warsaw, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Jerzy Szmajdziński, Vice-Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and Poland.
The Parties expressed their opinions concerning further development of Ukrainian-Polish inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is an important constituent of bilateral relations. The interlocutors dwelled upon the preparation for the final part of the European Football Championship 2012 and discussed political situation in Ukraine and Poland.
Jerzy Szmajdziński stated that the Polish Party supported the parity principle of the holding of EURO-2012, i.e. according with the formula "4x4".
The Parties also discussed organization of the upcoming visit of Jerzy Szmajdziński to Ukraine in September 2009, and the holding of the next sitting of the bilateral Assembly in Ukraine.
Oleksandr Motsyk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland also participated in the meeting.
